Background checks and human nature

Background checks are an important part of the security process. Background checks are used for:
- hiring new employees
- vetting employees for high risk positions
- providing security clearing for government organizations
- providing military clearance

However background checks are not performed by automated machines but rather by people. As mentioned many times before people are the weakest link in the security chain. Since people are not always good at discipline, consistency and process.
