Monitoring Skype is valuable?

The NSA wants to learn how to do better skype monitoring ("lawful interception"). As we know by now skype is used by:

- cyber criminals

- traditional criminals

- terrorists

- sex offenders

to escape monitoring and detection.

So the monitoring of skype is of great interest to intelligence agencies such as NSA or others.
